Hague Convention Apostille Stamp for Documents

Apostille basics: What is Apostille Certificate or Apostille Stamp? and why I need MEA Apostille Attestation?

Any document issued in India and intended to be used in the Hague Convention countries must be Apostille and in case of Non- Hague Convention countries must be attested by MEA when it is going to be used in a foreign country.

If the destination country where the document will be used IS a member of the Hague Convention, then the document will be certified by issuing Apostille by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), CPV Division.

If the destination country i where the document will be used IS NOT a member of the Hague Convention, then the document will be certified by issuing normal attestation by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), CPV Division.

Since Any foreign country does not know all the types of signatures, stamps and documents used in India, procedure has been established with a purpose to prove the authenticity of a certificate or a document and that procedure is called Apostille. The documents are personal as well as public documents, like educational Degree Certificate Apostille, Personal Certificates like Death, Birth and Marriage certificates Apostille and also Commercial Documents like Power of Attorney, etc.
